No Commission Baccarat
Baccarat started out as a table card game. It is typically played by making use of either 6 or 8 decks of cards, and various versions of the game have been developed over the years, the three most commonly played being Punto Banco, Chemmy and Baccarat Banque. Some versions of the game rely strictly on chance, and others involve a measure of strategy.
Baccarat is played by making use of a constant comparison between the hand dealt to the player, and the hand dealt to the dealer. Whoever ends up with the higher score, wins the round.
According to the rules of the game, each card has a specific point value. Cards numbers 2 to 9 are clear cut – 2 points for a number two card, 3 points for a number 3 card, etc. The number 10, as well as the Jack, Queen and King cards have no point value – and carry a zero value. The Ace card is worth 1 point.
The interesting thing about Baccarat, is that only the last digit is functional. For example, a hand of 2 and 4 points is worth 6 points (being the total of the two cards), but a hand of 6 and 8 is worth only 4 – with only the last digit of the total of 14 coming into play. Lower cards are therefore of a better value, than cards totalling to double digits.
Bets are placed before the first two cards are drawn by both the player and the dealer. An additional bet may be placed before a third card is requested by either party, based on the risk factor involved in the particular cards dealt.
Knowing When To Stand And When To Hit
The player and the dealer are initially dealt two cards each. Cards are dealt face upwards. This enables each party to factor in the risk of the hand drawn by the other party, when making a decision as to whether to request a third card, or not. Only one additional card may be requested by each party. The decision to not request a third card, is oftentimes what secures the win. The secret is to learn when to stand, and when to request a third card to be dealt.
Commission Baccarat Vs. No Commission Baccarat
Generally, when rooting for the dealer’s hand, a commission amount is payable. In the No Commission version of the game, the commission percentage is eliminated, simplifying the rules of the game even further.
